Hugo, who is Hugo?
For the last ten years or so I've been using joomla and wordpress for my website creation tools, depending on the requirements. Joomla is great but overkill for a simple blog whereas wordpress just seems like a magnet for hackers.
My last blog was wordpress based and had been creaking along for about five years or so but I got fed up of bits breaking everytime I updated a plugin or the theme and in a fit of pique I binned it a month or so back.
A post on pistonheads directed me here and the solution outlined intrigued me. Markdown has been on my 'to-do' list for a while and I'm a big fan of cloudflare's services so it seemed the ideal thing to try.
So here we are - a new blog based on hugo, locally created on my mac and published to cloudflare via github. No doubt there'll be issues along the way and perhaps some of the posts will be garbage but hey, it's all a learning curve. I've already binned off the template outlined in the post above as it didn't meet my needs and have settled on another where the documentation is a little more helpful. The old content will be slowly migrated across (with some judicious culling).
